Having spent many years teaching photography at colleges and universities across London, Roy was also formally Photography Manager at The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. He exhibits regularly and has work in both domestic and international collections.

Artist statement:

Much of my work is concerned with an exploration of space, scale, mass and void, observed through the intersections of built and natural environments. Absence, decay and renewal are other recurring themes, as are re-evaluations of form and function.

Unplanned associations and patterns caused by circumstance interest me greatly as does the tension between surface and depth. Everywhere, even in the most unprepossessing places is beauty, surprise and serenity
